Description

Toyota Land Cruisers are known worldwide for their exceptional reliability, versatility, and ability to traverse any terrain. It's safe to say that they are among the most universally loved 4x4 vehicles ever built as Japan's attempt to duplicate the U.S. military Jeep, becoming Toyota's best-selling model. The FJ40 series was introduced in 1963, and it was offered in various wheelbases and utility configurations with a choice of straight-four and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The FJ40 remained largely the same cosmetically during its two-decade production run, however, it featured numerous improvements over time. Front disc brakes and power steering were two notable enhancements before production ended for most markets in 1984.

  • Powered by a 350 cu-in Chevrolet V8 engine reported to produce approximately 400 horsepower with the following build details: 

    • Center bolt cylinder heads 

    • The cylinders were bored .040 in over standard 

    • Flat top pistons with a 9.5:1 compression ratio 

    • Comp Cams Extreme 4X4 camshaft for increased torque characteristics 

    • Currently tuned with timing set for use with premium fuel 

    • 1.94 inch intake and 1.60 inch exhaust valve size 

    • Weiand aluminum intake  

    • Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor 

    • Single piece rear main seats 

  • Stock four-speed manual transmission and two-speed transfer case has 

  • Advance Adaptors small block chevy conversion kit 

  • New flywheel and clutch 

  • Disc brakes have been installed on the front axle, with the parts said to have been sourced from a 1984 Toyota truck with a master cylinder from a 1982 Toyota Hilux 

  • Power steering is reported to have been adapted from a 1982 Chevrolet one ton truck steering box and pump while the steering column came from an older model truck 

  • Painless Performance Products wiring harness kit
