Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The Chevrolet Caprice, a flagship full-size car, graced North American roads from 1965 to 1996, leaving an indelible mark on automotive history. Initially introduced as a luxurious trim package for the Impala four-door hardtop in mid-1965, the Caprice swiftly evolved into a standalone model line, offering a diverse range of body styles, including the distinguished "formal hardtop" coupe and the versatile Estate station wagon from 1966 onwards.

The fifth generation, from 1971 to 1976, stands as the largest Chevrolet passenger car ever manufactured. The 1973 update of the Chevrolet Caprice brought significant aesthetic and safety enhancements, reflecting the evolving automotive landscape of the era. Featuring a fresh cross-hatch grille, a 5 mph energy-absorbing front bumper, and revised square taillights seamlessly integrated into the bumper, the Caprice underwent a notable facelift. Moreover, the model lineup underwent a rebranding, with Caprice models now bearing the moniker "Caprice Classic" for the 1973 model year, signaling a shift towards a more refined and upscale image. With a wide range of engine options, there was a Caprice for every style, budget, and automotive need.

Robert A. Jones, a successful businessman and second-generation leader of the still going concern, Jones Brothers Contracting of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, had an innate understanding of the many heavy duty machines that were a part of the family business.  Early on, Mr. Jones turned that knowledge into a passion for road cars and acquired his first collector car in 1969, at the age of 35 — the famous Ford Model T.  That single and simple pre-war car sparked a passion that never tempered for Mr. Jones and eventually, influenced by the more common Jones family marque of choice, his passions would burn even brighter for early Chevrolets.  As his collection grew and changed over the years, his interests were focused on displaying the cars at regional shows and concours, as well as still driving many of his road-worthy classics.  Hagerty Marketplace is proud to offer The Jones Collection, entirely without reserve, comprising some long-treasured vehicles from his personal collection.
