Select the Volkswagen Super Beetle model year you want to research current market prices for
The original Volkswagen Beetle was a groundbreaking car, but by 1971 it was already an older design. VW introduced the Super Beetle that year in order to address some of the limitations of the original Beetle. One of the major updates was replacing the Beetle’s torsion bar front suspension with MacPherson struts in the Super Beetle. This improved both handling and ride quality. The Super Beetle also boasted increased storage capacity thanks in part to a slightly longer and wider body, and from 1973 got a curved windshield and redesigned dashboard. The Super Beetle kept Volkswagen’s seminal model relevant in the U.S. market for a few more years, but it was eventually dropped from the company’s American lineup in large part to make room for the more modern Golf.
