Select the Ford F-150 model year you want to research current market prices for
Ford’s F-Series dates back to the company’s first postwar pickups in 1948, but the F-150 – the best-known and best-selling Ford pickup – didn’t arrive until 1975. Introduced as a higher payload version of the contemporary Ford F-100, the F-150 eventually replaced the F-100 and saw Ford shoot to the top of the consumer pickup sales charts. In 1977, the F-Series line became America’s best-selling truck. It has been America’s best-selling truck ever since. The seventh generation Ford F-Series, including the F-150, debuted for 1980. Its basic architecture would last through the eighth and ninth generations until 1997 and formed the basis for the 1980-96 Bronco. After the F-100 was discontinued in 1983, the F-150 became the smallest, lowest-payload version, but various body styles, powertrains, and four-wheel drive were still available. The F-150 saw a full redesign for 1997 and retained its market dominance, while full-size SUVs like the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator took on the SUV market using the F-150’s platform. A sporty Lightning model, a flashy Harley-Davidson package, and a luxurious King Ranch edition were all added from 1999-2001. Continuously updated and improved through the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s, the F-150 spawned an off-road performance Raptor version in 2010 and an all-electric version called the Lightning in 2021. Meanwhile, the base F-150 continues to be America’s most popular pickup year after year.
