Model overview
Model description
In 2006, the Dodge Charger returned, reviving one of the brand’s most celebrated nameplates. Though this would mark the sixth generation of the car, the Charger name is most commonly known for its first three generations, spanning 1966 to 1974. Although the retro craze was well underway in the American car space during the mid-2000s, the new Charger took things in a different direction, with more futuristic styling. Most importantly, the Dodge Charger was now a four-door sedan.
Trims for the initial 2007 Charger include SE, SXT, R/T, R/T Daytona, and SRT-8. The SE and SXT are V-6 models, while the R/T came fitted with a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 making 340 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. With the R/T Daytona, output increased to 350 horsepower. The Daytona also receives a more aggressive lower front spoiler and rear deck-lid spoiler, as well as unique badging and striping. The Daytona backs up the racy look with upgraded tires and suspension.
The SRT-8 is the top of the 2006 Dodge Charger lineup. Developed with help from Dodge’s “Street and Racing Technology” division, it features a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8, putting out 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The package also added 20-inch wheels, a more pronounced rear spoiler, and Brembo brakes. Inside, the SRT-8 features leather upholstery, an 11-speaker sound system, and a GPS touchscreen navigation system. All engines route power through a five-speed automatic transmission.
