Model overview
Model description
By 2011, the C6 Chevrolet Corvette lineup included Coupe, Convertible, Z06, Grand Sport, and ZR1 variants. For 2011, Corvette provided an additional flavor in the form of the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition.
As the name suggests, the Carbon Limited Edition was based on the Z06, and it commemorated the Corvette’s 50th Anniversary of racing at the 24 Hours of LeMans. The Carbon Limited Edition features dark wheels (but in a similar design to the ZR1 wheels), a lower front lip, and the ZR1’s carbon ceramic brakes. It features the 7.0-liter (427 cid) V8, making 505 horsepower, housed under the upgraded carbon fiber hood. It also came with the ZR1’s magnetic ride control. 500 were planned, but in reality only 250 were produced.
At first glance you might mistake a Z06 Carbon Limited Edition for a modified ZR1, but the ZR1 is still the top-of-the-line Corvette complete with its stupendously powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Thanks to the Eaton twin-scroll unit, this engine makes 638 horsepower.
The Coupe and Convertible Corvettes continued to be offered with the base 6.2-liter V8 making 430 horsepower. The Corvette Grand Sport combined the wide track and upgraded aerodynamics of the Z06 with the base Corvette’s engine, making for an ideal track machine that puts cornering above all else.
