Hear 10 Heavy-Hitting Chevys from The Supercar Reunion
Car shows and other stationary events sometimes get a bad rap for being an assembly of objects designed and produced for driving that gather to…park. While car shows are not for everyone, there are a few that rise above the rest and bring out rides that otherwise might not be seen by the public. For example, this summer a bunch of cars at The Supercar Reunion in Bowling Green, KY gave our heartbeats a little extra lift and duration.
The group was captured by YouTube channel Hot Rod Hoarder. All of the cars hail from the peak of the muscle era, and those period-correct engines sound amazing. There is a little bit for every muscle car lover in the mix—so long as you like Chevrolets. These are some of the rarest and coolest Chevys in existence, though.
The car that stood out most to us was a dealer-built special: A 1972 Baldwin Motion Chevrolet Camaro. Baldwin Motion is not as well-known as some of the other dealer-built heavy hitters, but it sure knew what to do to make the second-generation Camaro look the business. Long side pipes and aggressive stripes pair perfectly with the blue paint and bright Cragars, and hearing it idle by is the icing on the cake.
Another one that stood out was a yellow 1969 Camaro. A COPO special order car, it packs a 427 under the hood and an exterior is a “day two” look, featuring the common modifications that many owners of the time installed. The polished aluminum wheels and slightly raised rear stance works well with the body lines of this era, especially 1969 Camaros.
It’s an impressive grouping of heavy-hitting muscle cars finished in factory restoration, day two, and race build form. For us, this video was the perfect daydream-inducing distraction for a Friday afternoon.
Lots of cool Camaros here.
Have to admit the 72 Camaro drew me in. I like the stripe
The 72 looks good, but the shackles destroy it. Just re-arch the leaf springs and add a leaf on each side. That’s the permanent way we did it in the past. Shackles are the cheap ugly solution and are an embarrassment.
oh them motion guys test driving these cars on sunrise hi way
i ordered a brand new 68 chevelle ss396 with the hottest engine i could get in, the 375 hp L78 option. the car was painted all black with black vinyl bench seats, wooden steering wheel, m22 rock crusher 4 spd trans, 4:10 gears, and even the factory am-fm stereo multiplex radio that hung under the dash. total cost of the car was about $3000 not including discount. what i really wanted was a similarly equipped camaro but i didn’t want the bucket seats and the center console.
Very interesting and informative video of rare performance cars. Like em all, especially the 67 Corvette period correct Drag car. Thanks for the chance to see and hear them. Great job.
