The Senna Tower will be the World Champion of Apartment Buildings

The world’s tallest apartment block is to be built in Brazil and named after the country’s Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna.

Sited in Balneario Camboriu, Santa Catarina the Senna Tower will be 500 meters (1640 ft) tall and will feature a total of 228 residences. Of those 18 will be “suspended mansions” while a pair of “mega-triplex penthouses” will also be included. Six whole floors will be reserved for residents-only leisure facilities and there’ll be a massive roof garden as well. The project is set to cost around half a billion bucks to build, but with some properties being sold for over $15 million the developers will certainly get a grand prix payout.

Senna’s niece Lalalli, an artist and anthropologist, has been heavily involved in the tower’s design. It is a “symbol that inspires us to try to overcome our limitations,” she says. “The Senna Tower is a work of art of monumental proportions. The tower has this architectural form precisely to symbolise this heroic trajectory of overcoming towards our ideals and the manifestation of our profound potential.”

As part of this inspiration there will be an immersive museum dedicated to the three-time Formula 1 champion who was tragically killed at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994 at the age of just 34.

As far as we’re aware it’s the first time that a driver’s name and reputation has been used to market real estate, but car makers have been in on the action for some time. In Florida alone you’ll find towering residences by Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz and Bentley, while there’s a Bugatti building going up in Dubai.
