Stampede over to Hertz If You Want to Rent a Rare Shelby Mustang Mach-E GTH

Hertz

The fastest car in the world is a hire car, or at least it is according to PJ O’Rourke—and the folks at Hertz are doing their best to live up to this claim by adding a new Shelby to the rental roster.

Despite the firm shedding Teslas like there’s no tomorrow, the latest addition to the fast fleet is all-electric in the form of the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GTH. In signature black with gold striping, just 100 examples of the 480-hp crossover are to be made available at select Hertz locations.

The GT-H comes with a racy bodykit, with a new lower splitter, front grille, and lower door trim made from carbon fiber. The hood is also fabricated from the lightweight material, while there are special forged alloy monoblock wheels with GTH center caps, and the ride height is lowered.

The cabin is decked out in black leather, with contrasting gold stitching, “Shelby GTH” inlaid in the headrests, floor mats and kick plates, plus a dash plaque carrying Carroll Shelby‘s signature and the car’s chassis number.

Shelby’s additions save a little weight and enhance the Mach-E GT’s styling, but don’t add any extra performance, except in one area: sound. There’s a switchable Borla simulated exhaust, adding to the audio appeal with an imitation V-8 soundtrack.

If you want the real deal then you could always rent a 900-hp Mustang GT500-H instead.
