Polestar 2 adds Performance Pack to dial in handling and braking

The sporty Polestar 2 EV isn’t even on sale yet, but that hasn’t stopped the Swedish-Chinese outfit from offering an alliterative upgrade option.

The Polestar Performance Pack does nothing for the $59,900 car’s sub-five-second zero to sixty time. Instead the focus is on handling, stopping, and some cosmetics.

First up, the car’s standard dampers are replaced with Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers, which Polestar says provide a consistent response no matter the road conditions. The dampers are also manually adjustable, with no less than 22 settings, so you can fine-tune the dynamics to your taste.

Forged 20-inch aluminum wheels are stronger than the standard items and 3.3 pounds lighter. They’re wrapped in Continental SportContact 245/40R20 tires for extra grip. Braking is providing by Brembo. Four-piston aluminum front calipers meet 375 mm x 35 mm front discs and support the car’s regeneration system, and can extend the 275-mile electric range. The gold-painted calipers also look very cool peeking through the eight-spoke alloys.

Inside there are Swedish gold colored seatbelts to hold you in place as you put the Performance Pack to the test. For $5000 we think it’s a pretty electrifying offer on top of an already compelling Tesla Model 3 challenger.
