Mercedes-AMG SL63 Golden Coast Is a Beach-Inspired Limited-Edition Roadster

Mercedes-AMG

Mercedes-AMG is highlighting what its Manufaktur customization department is capable of by releasing a limited-edition version of the SL63 called Golden Coast. Inspired by “gleaming golden sand beaches,” the roadster gains a long list of edition-specific styling updates that differentiate it from the standard SL63.

Finished in an edition-specific color called Manufaktur Kalahari Gold Magno, the Golden Coast gets 21-inch wheels with body-colored accents, black brake calipers with white AMG logos, and black chrome on the grille, the emblems, and the exhaust pipes. It comes standard with the AMG Night Package, the AMG Extended Night Package, and the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which are optional on the standard SL63.

Gold-colored contrast stitching and a sprinkling of Manufaktur Kalahari Gold Magno accents continue the sand-themed look inside. AMG also added front sport seats, diamond-stitched Nappa leather upholstery, high-pile floor mats, and a “Manufaktur Golden Coast” logo on the center console storage compartment’s lid to remind your passengers that this isn’t a run-of-the-mill SL63. In pictures, the Golden Coast edition looks nice enough that we’d be worried about getting sand in the cabin if we drove it to a golden coast.

Mercedes-AMG didn’t make any mechanical changes to the Golden Coast. Power comes from an SL63-sourced 4.0-liter V-8 that’s twin-turbocharged to deliver 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Built by hand, it spins the four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles and a performance-tuned all-wheel-drive system. The roadster takes 3.5 seconds to reach 60 mph from a stop.

You can order a Mercedes-AMG SL63 Manufaktur Golden Coast even if you don’t live anywhere near a coast, let alone a golden one, but you’ll need to act quickly because production is limited to 100 units worldwide. There’s no word yet on how many of those have been earmarked for the American market. The first examples will land on dealer lots in February 2025, though pricing hasn’t been announced.
