Maserati wins the first beauty pageant of 2021

It’s still only January, but the Maserati MC20 has already been declared “the most beautiful supercar of the year 2021.”

The Italian super sports car was honored at The Festival Automobile International which was held online instead of its normal ritzy central Paris location. The design-focused event hands out gongs to the best-looking cars in a number of segments and Maserati’s new mid-engined machine took the prize for the supercar category.

There were also awards for interior and exterior design, young designers, books, advertising and posters. Three awards went to concept cars: the most beautiful futuristic car went to the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR, the most beautiful concept car to the DS Aero Sport Lounge, and the most beautiful show car to the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron Concept.

Bugatti’s Bolide won the most beautiful hypercar award and, inexplicably, the most beautiful (regular) car in the world award went to the Mercedes GLA, with the Mazda MX-30 and Opel Mokka taking up podium positions. Well, they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. On the plus side, the cute Honda e won best interior for its widescreen and wood cabin.
