Is this how BMW should have designed the new M3/M4?

BMW certainly got people talking when it released official images of the 2021 M3 and M4. In the wake of the (inevitable) controversy over the redesign and that grille, we asked Hagerty’s creative illustrator Abimelec Arellano to imagine what the M3 would look like if it hewed more closely to traditional BMW design. Here’s what he came up with.

The clear difference here is that Arellano returned the 2021 M3’s kidney grille to more traditional proportions—the reimagination evokes the neat nostrils of the E92-generation model.
