Free Wheeling Ford Bronco Adds Another Retro Look
Ford Bronco buyers can now time travel back to the Seventies by snapping up a colorful Free Wheeling package.
The design is derived from the graphics on late 1970s’ and early 1980s’ F-100, F-150 and Bronco trucks and the Econoline van, and features red, orange and yellow striping, painted steelies, and black trim for grille, mirrors and bumpers. The multi-colored stripes are mirrored on the backs of unique marine-grade vinyl and fabric seats, and there’s also orange and yellow stitching on the dash and seats.
To get the Free Wheeling look you’ll need to start by ordering up Big Bend trim, and from there you can upgrade further to the Sasquatch Package to add 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels. A Shadow Black painted roof is available as an extra if you prefer that to the standard-issue soft top or molded-in-color hardtop.
“Bronco has always been about fun and capability since day one and Free Wheeling’s looks kick that up a notch with its sunset inspired beach vibes,” says Steve Gilmore, Ford Vehicle Personalization chief designer. “We’ve modernized the new Bronco Free Wheeling in line with today’s fashion and graphic trends, including seats that mimic the color palette of the exterior stripes and unique pops of color that come together in an optimistic way.”
Fans of the Free Wheeling style will be able to place orders in January 2025 and can even dress to match their cars with a range of T-shirts hats and jackets.
I’m not a fan, but then again, I’ve never really cared for colors of the ’70s. No FOMO here, I’ll keep my current Bronco!
Sorry, but the only one that even comes close is the two door Bronco and sometimes even that’s a stretch. Power plants start with 3 cylinders and I have a hard time getting over that. However, I have a new maverick with the 2.0 turbo and it is impressive so I guess I am coming around. Pulled a 19’ boat from Az to Wa and you wouldn’t even know it was there, amazing
Sorry, but the Bronco Sport is the only one with an available 3 cylinder engine. (and that is only available as a 4 door).
Both of the “regular” Broncos (2 door or 4 door) have either a 2.3L 4 cylinder or a 2.7L 6 cylinder engine.

No. Just no. Another cynical money grab, and yes, FoMoCo will not be able to keep with the the demand. Perhaps they should make one that is able to stay afloat for 24 hours. That might be more practical in the next decade than stripes, decals, and swag.
