Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package Brings Back Classic Color

Kyle Smith

The anniversary of a car as critical as the Ford Mustang is one that deserves a little fanfare, and even a special edition. Ford hasn’t been letting Mustang faithful down on that front, and after debuting the 60th Anniversary Package earlier this year, they continue to roll out additional updates and enticements for anyone seeking a modern ‘Stang with retro flair. The latest comes in the form of a vintage hue, and if you like it as much as we do, you’d better act fast.

Brittany Blue joins Wimbledon White, Race Red, and Vapor Blue as colors available on the Mustang 60th Anniversary Package, of which just 1,965 units will be built. While the other colors can be had on coupes or convertibles and with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, Brittany Blue examples will come exclusively as a Fastback body and feature 10-speed automatic transmissions, the 401A package (a handful of standard features include 12″ touchscreen, accent color stitching, and premium floor mats), Active-Valve Performance Exhaust, Brembo brakes, 3.55 limited-slip rear axle, 12-speaker B&O sound system, and Space Gray upholstery.

Brittany Blue was first offered on the pony car in 1967 and has been used across a few FoMoCo models over the last six decades.

Regardless of where else it might have been found in the past, if you want it on your anniversary Mustang, you’ve got a very short window of opportunity. Interested buyers can go to Ford.com and register their interest in purchasing a 60th Anniversary Edition Mustang for the next three days (August 16-19). Those lucky enough to be selected to purchase the $65,245 special edition will be notified via email by August 21 and must select the dealer for their order within seven days.

Agreed Gary. They are uglier then 10 days of rain and the style is about as exciting as wet mud. Like the offspring of a Camaro and a Mustang. Hideous.

Well, as always, styling is subjective. While I did like the immediately-prior look better, this generation still looks pretty darn good.

Would be nice to have been notified on the first day of eh order window instead of the last. If it had a manual transmission and different wheels, and really analogue gauges, I’d have put an order in. I’ll stick with my 2015 version.

That was my first impression when I looked at the quarter panel. I also don’t think the wheels are very attractive. But to each their own and I don’t care. I have no need nor any intention of buying any new vehicle.

With that color, no spoiler and those Porsche wheels, this is the best looking S650 yet. I know that’s not saying much. $65k? Is there $15k in the glove box upon delivery?

I’m floored the author says Ford is offering a coupe (i.e. notchback?) Mustang again, which I thought hadn’t been offered after the demise of the Fox Bodies.

Can’t say this model spins my wheels. They even cheaped out on the anniversary logo. They should have had a bolder, larger graphic proclaiming that this is a 60TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION on the fender. I cannot see what that red symbol on the fender shows. They could have also provided a special interior complete with Anniversay Logo.

This colour would look good on the convertible, with the black top and that gray interior. Sadly, it says only a coupe will be available. And unless something has changed, inexplicably the Mustang coupe is not available with a moonroof.
