First production Hummer EV and two-door Bronco headline charity auction charge
Barrett-Jackson’s 2021 Scottsdale auction, held March 20–27, will bring a bevy of VIN 001 production models that will hit the auction block for charity. These will include a first-of-its-kind performance model, a resurrected historic performance trim, and some off-road favorites recently returned to the limelight. Barrett-Jackson will be waiving all fees so that all proceeds go to the respective charities named by the companies offering the vehicles.
2022 GMC Hummer EV
Perhaps the most significant of the vehicles being offered in Scottsdale is the first-ever 2022 GMC Hummer EV. This will represent GM’s first all-electric full-size pickup and the first vehicle to use the new Ultium battery system from General Motors. The 1000-hp pickup features four-wheel steering, an adjustable ride height, and underbody cameras to help navigate difficult terrain.
The Hummer auction will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation that provides mortgage-free smart homes for injured first responders and veterans. It’s the same charity that Chevrolet picked to benefit from the $2.7M sale of the final C7 Corvette.
2021 Bronco First Edition 2-Door
Ford has donated its first production version of the two-door 2021 Bronco, a First Edition in Lightning Blue. That color is only available on the First Edition, which combines the suspension and hardware of the Badlands with the blacked-out exterior of the Wildtrak and the high-tech comfort of the plush Outer Banks, plus it’s equipped with the Sasquatch package and its 35-inch tires. VIN 001 of the two-door Bronco is going to benefit the National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound, two programs dedicated to the outdoors.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1
Another Ford first, the first production example of the sixth-generation Mustang Mach 1, will be offered for sale on March 26 benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This 480-hp, six-speed Mach 1 is equipped with the Handling Package and is finished in the Mach 1 exclusive Fighter Jet Gray.
2022 Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V
Cadillac is offering a pair of Blackwings, as the first production CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing will be offered on March 25 and March 26, respectively. VIN 001 of the 472-hp twin-turbo V-6 CT4-V Blackwing and VIN 001 of the 668-hp CT5-V Blackwing will benefit Black Ambition, providing investment for minority entrepreneurs. Those vehicles won’t yet be on hand, so it seems that the winning buyer will be able to select the paint and upholstery as they see fit.
2021 Ram TRX
Finally, VIN 001 of the Ram TRX will also be available. We mentioned that sale, which will benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline, when it was announced in January.
We can’t remember the last time so many highly anticipated models debuted in such a narrow timeframe. Let’s hope that these high-powered collectibles bring record numbers to their charities and help a lot of worthwhile causes.
