The Dodge Viper plant will be FCA’s new heritage center

The FCA U.S. heritage collection will now be housed under a single roof: the Conner Center, which until late 2017 was the production home of the Dodge Viper. Just south of Eight Mile in Detroit, it will serve as Chrysler’s private museum.

Since the Chrysler Museum closed to accommodate Alfa Romeo and Maserati executive offices, the FCA U.S. heritage vehicle collection has been spread across several warehouses. The almost 400-vehicle collection will now be consolidated at the Conner Center.

The Conner Center will house the entire collection, with display space for up to 85 vehicles at a time. Meeting and conference area space will be used for FCA U.S. internal purposes. Slated to be available for company meeting and event use by June of this year, the former Viper and Plymouth Prowler production facility spans 77,000 square feet.

FCA U.S. public relations team stresses that the Conner Center and the heritage vehicle collection will only be open for company events. The good news for automotive enthusiasts and history buffs is that all FCA U.S. heritage collection vehicles are now in one place, but as for eventual public accessibility, we’ll have to be patient. Hopefully, good things often come to those who wait.
