Celebrate 60 Years of the Porsche 912 with This Carbon KAMM
It was at the New York Auto Show in 1965 that Porsche took the wraps of the 912. Built to straddle the space left between the departed 356 and the more powerful and pricey 911, the 912 has spent most of the 60 years since in the shadow of its sibling.
Miki Kázmér, the Hungarian entrepreneur behind KAMManufaktur, is on a mission to change that. With his 912c he’s come up with a recipe to put the spotlight back on the model thanks to a combination of lightweighting and adding significantly more power to the flat-four engine that’s slung over the rear axle.
To mark six decades since the car was launched KAMM has announced a 60th Edition of its 912c that celebrates the 912’s motorsports success. Actually, make that two 60th Editions.

The first, in Poland Red, commemorates rally driver Sobieslaw Zasada who drove his car to overall victory in the 1967 European Rally Championship for Group 1 Touring Cars, and wears the number 47 on its flanks. The Bahama Yellow paintwork of the second derivative is modelled on a 912 that rallied successfully in Sweden in the same year, and also took on the Gulf London Rally.
A common feature of both cars is a full carbon fiber body which brings the 912c’s weight down to a staggering 699 kg or 1541 lbs. Buyers can then work with KAMM’s bespoke program to add in everything from a Bluetooth audio system and air conditioning to a choice of street or track-focused seats, safety cage and engine tune. Even the gear ratios can be changed to suit driver preference. A custom crash helmet will be provided with each example should its owner wish to take to the track.

As for power, the completely re-engineered motor, upped to two-liters, produces 190 hp at 7200 rpm in regular fast road/track day tune, but can be pushed further if desired.
“The 912 has always been my passion,” Kázmér. “Being able to create a model that celebrates 60 years since this iconic sports car made its debut, is a very special moment for KAMM. Our anniversary 912c is a unique car, celebrating the incredible character of the 912 and its illustrious place in automotive history.”
If you fancy one (or both) of these ultra-light ultra-limited edition 912cs then you’ll need to find €395,000 (c$415,000).

A $415k 912 seems silly. Why not just go 911 at that point. I know I’m not the market for this kind of thing.
There is no substitute. Actually there are and they won’t set you back “house” money.
If you are concerned with the price for this you are not the demographic. He will not be able to make enough of these for demand , I have no doubt .
This is only just a 912. It is essentially a remanufactured, rebodied, bespoke derivative of the 912. Similar price to any other such hand-made indulgence. Lovely, but only for multi-millionaires and up.
Not to be some kind of sycophant but I dig Lyn’s 912 more. More pure and _ for the money?!
