Watch Ken Block hoon the first electric rallycrosser

You’ve seen Ken Block roast the tires of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, now it’s the turn of the world’s first electric rallycross car to get the Hoonigan treatment.

The Ford Fiesta ERX is a pocket rocket that has already seen Block take a class victory in the World Rally Cross Project E series. With three electric motors delivering a total of 603 hp to all four wheels the Fiesta ERX can hit 60 mph from rest in just 1.8 seconds.

From the video it appears to be both fiendishly complex, yet incredibly simple to drive. The start up sequence is brain-busting, but once in race mode the car runs in a single gear leaving the driver to focus on drifting the little car through the course.

It sounds—and looks—a lot like a scaled-up Tamiya radio controlled model as it hurtles around the Höljesbanan track in Sweden where Block took his first victory.

With this Fiesta ERX and the incredible 1502 hp Mustang Cobra Jet Ford’s electric future is looking anything but boring.
