Cars to watch at Vicari’s upcoming New Orleans sale
Vicari Auctions of Harvey, La., isn’t yet a household name in all parts of the U.S., but with sales in New Orleans; Biloxi, Miss.; Nocona, Texas; and Panama City, Fla., they look to be doing a fine job of filling the same kind of niche in the Southeast U.S. that Silver Auctions has filled so well in the Pacific Northwest—offering a great variety of interesting cars, many at price points that are accessible to the majority of people involved in the hobby.
Vicari’s upcoming New Orleans sale features a nice selection of cars from the J. Gordon Farmer collection, including some very attractive pre-war Packards, a 1940 Series 60 Cadillac and — from the post-war era —a 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible. Farmer also had an eye for pretty British cars; Vicari is selling both a 1952 XK120 fixed-head coupe and a 1947 Mark IV cabriolet from the same estate.
There’s plenty of later-model muscle, as well, with at 1987 Buick Regal Grand National and a very rare Colonnade body-style Hurst Olds W30. There also looks to be a good assortment of pickups, motorcycles, restomods and customs in the lineup for fans of these areas of the market that are especially active at the moment.
The sale is slated for Aug. 9-10 at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans.
