Instagram Jump Start: ’55 Chevy pickup shows off its tail, comes from behind to grab No. 1

There’s something – OK, a lot of things – about Chevrolet’s 1955 truck line-up that gear heads really like. We focused on one of those things on Instagram by showing the optional wrap-around rear window on a 3100’s Deluxe Cab. Although it was our last post of the week, the red-and-white Chevy cruised past the others and became the most-liked photo on HagertyClassicCars last week. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy our top five:

  1. 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup (1,218 likes) – Chevrolet’s 1955 Task Force line of trucks featured a new wrap-around windshield and an optional wrap-around rear window on deluxe cabs like this one. Base price for a 3100 model was $1,430, which adjusting for inflation is equal to only $12,668 in today’s economy. It’s no wonder that Chevy advertising boasted: “More truck for your money today! More money for your truck tomorrow!”

  2. 1965 Pontiac Tempest (1,167) – Among the custom additions to this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Tempest: an aluminum radiator with internal fans, rack and pinion steering, power brakes and Rallye wheels with red-line tires. In addition, the Tempest’s two-speed automatic transmission was replaced with a four-speed automatic, and its 326-ci V-8 was upgraded with a stroker kit, raising the displacement to 376-ci.

  5. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro/2017 Camaro (975) – A 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS and 2017 Camaro SS share the spotlight at the M1 Concourse Race Track in Pontiac, Mich., during a recent photoshoot for the Winter 2016 issue of Hagerty magazine, which celebrates 50 years of the iconic Chevy muscle car.

Best of the Rest – We enjoy the photography on @twowheels4me so much that we could probably feature a post every week. The subject matter, camera angles and creative filters make Rick Chard’s photos practically impossible to ignore. Although we couldn’t go wrong with any of the automobile-focused possibilities, in the end we picked this stunning 1956 Chevy wagon. Simply fintastic.
