Evan Peterson, Licensed Sales Agent and Underwriter
Evan is a recent addition to the Hagerty Marine crew, joining Hagerty in November 2012 after spending several years working at a standard-market insurance company. A Michigan native, he has spent most of his life on or near the water, and comes from a family of boat builders and marina owners.
“After growing up at our family’s boatyard, interacting with boaters of all types, it’s been a real pleasure to expand my knowledge of collector boats here at Hagerty,” said Evan, who fondly remembers working at the family marina throughout high school and college, operating boats of all makes and sizes, from 16-foot Donzis to 50-foot Sea Rays. “The boating community is generally very tight-knit, and the collector boat community is no different.”
Having grown up in southwest Michigan, Evan leapt at the chance to return to the shores of Lake Michigan when Hagerty offered him a position in Traverse City. An avid boater, Evan has been a boat owner since he was 12, and at one time he owned a classic ’60s-era Thompson Sea Lancer. On his wish list are a Chris-Craft XK19 and a Donzi “Sweet 16.”
Evan is a licensed insurance agent, and brings experience as an underwriter for several types of insurance, including watercraft, automobile and homeowners. “I feel extremely fortunate to be able to combine my passion for boats with my experience in the insurance industry here at Hagerty,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to be able to help people protect something that they’re passionate about so they can go out and enjoy the hobby without worry.”
