25 Greatest Mustangs: “Vanilla Ice” 5.0

OK, on a list of 25 famous examples of the same model, you have to expect some left-fielders. More people than would care to admit remember this white-over-red Fox-body 5.0 convertible from Vanilla Ice’s early rap single, “Rollin’ in My 5.0,” if only because of the spectacle of a very white dude unashamedly co-opting a music form invented by and, at the time, associated pretty much exclusively with, non-white dudes.

And because every suburban boy in high school wanted to be Ice, dating Madonna and rollin’ a white 5.0 with his crew. And because Dick Dale and his Del-Tones sounded no less silly in an earlier era singing, “Wild, wild Mustang, go, go, go; lil’ king of the road from FoMoCo!”
