The big, beautiful Amelia Island 2018 photo gallery

The festivities this year at Amelia Island was a celebration of motoring. The weekend boasted a huge variety of cars on display and for sale at a number of venues, and owners took the opportunity to cruise, top-down if possible, along the Florida coast. While the auction block was the best place to witness some high-dollar action, we spent most of our time milling through the cars displayed on the lawns where we could get up close and observe the details. The shots below highlight some of our favorite sports cars and racers for this year’s event. Enjoy!

Beautiful race cars made up the North American Racing Team (NART) display on the far end of the Concours lawn. It wasn’t all Ferrari at the NART display, as one 1968 L88 big-block Corvette also had success on the team, look for that car in the gallery below.

Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins raced the Baja Boot in the 1969 Mexican 1000, where transmission trouble ultimately ended their run. Ekins ran it in the Baja 500 later that year and won. As shown here, it has since been restored to its original 1967 look.
