Whatcha gonna build? ECTO-1!

We’re all coping with the pandemic-induced delays of our favorite franchises in different ways. Thankfully, Lego’s decided to make things a bit easier on Ghostbusters fans by releasing a plastic-brick version of the ghostbusting ’59 Caddy favored by Venkman, Stantz, and Spengler.

With 2352 pieces, this miniature ECTO-1 should keep fans of the action-comedy plenty busy. They’ve got some time to kill, too, since the third installment of the series (we shall pass over the 2016 rehash) has been postponed nearly a full year, from July 2020 to an updated release date of June 11, 2020—exactly 37 years after the original.

While we can’t speak for the upcoming flick, the Lego model looks like it won’t disappoint. As expected for a $200 toy, the Lego ECTO-1 rolls and steers. Due to this model’s higher spirit-world calling, it also boasts a ghost trap, an extending rear gunner seat, and an authentic Ghostbusters logo on its side.  There’s even a Remote Trap Vehicle, and—this might be our favorite detail—a miniature version of the Miller-Meteor’s 6.2-liter V-8.

When built, the Lego ECTO-1 will measure a foot and a half long, 8 inches high, and 6 inches wide. Will it also guard your house from ghosts at night? Lego doesn’t make any promises.
