Kevin Hart is back behind the wheel, in a ’69 Camaro
Two months after comedian and automotive enthusiast Kevin Hart was seriously injured in a car crash that totaled his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, he is back behind the wheel—driving a classic, no less. In a video released by TMZ, Hart and a friend leave a store, get into a custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, and drive away.
TMZ made a big deal of Hart not putting on a seat belt with a shoulder harness—even shouting it in a headline—but shoulder-harness belts were rare in ’60s production cars. Vehicles of the era generally had only lap belts, if they had safety belts at all.
Asked by the videographer how he is feeling, Hart replies, “I’m great… feeling blessed to be alive, brother… It’s a process. It’s going to take some time. I’m patient.”
Hart suffered “major back injuries” when his SpeedKore 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, driven by friend Jared Black, left the roadway and tumbled down an embankment near Malibu, California, on September 1. Black’s fiancée, fitness trainer Rebecca Broxterman, was also in the car. Broxterman was not seriously hurt, but Black suffered back injuries.
Hart underwent back surgery and has been documenting his recovery on Instagram. He posted a photo of himself with the ’69 Camaro on Father’s Day, June 16. Here’s to a speedy recovery for all, so everyone can get back to fully enjoying time on the open road.
