Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
BMW debuted the third generation of the popular 5-Series, dubbed the E34, in 1987. Initially only available in sedan form, September 1992 saw the introduction of a Touring model – marking the first time the 5-Series was made available in a wagon body style. Powering the Touring was a range of inline-four and inline-six gasoline engines, as well as a diesel option powered by BMW's “M51D25” engine. Sold in Europe as the 525tds, its intercooled 2.5-liter turbodiesel inline-six produced 140 horsepower which was sent to the rear wheels through manual or automatic transmission options. When combined with the Touring’s already spectacular versatility, the 525tds enjoyed the added benefits of diesel power including lower fuel consumption and increased engine longevity. Today, the 525tds Touring remains an eminently practical and rarely seen wagon, especially in the United States.
