“Describing Yamaha's newest and biggest motorcycle for 1983 is like listing every feature available on wheels or in electronics.”
-Cycle World 1983
The Venture Royale stood out as Yamaha's premier long-distance touring motorcycle, boasting the largest engine displacement and power output in the Yamaha lineup during its time. Primarily designed for the expansive North American market, it featured a sophisticated liquid-cooled DOHC 16-valve V4 engine, shaft drive, a comprehensive full-body fairing, and luxurious amenities such as an AM/FM radio with a cassette player. Its advanced features included computer-controlled front and rear suspension, enhancing its suitability for extended, comfortable cruising. Notably, the engine of this model would later serve as the foundation for Yamaha's VMAX, which debuted three years later.
