Description

The popularity of America’s Sports Car, the Chevrolet Corvette, exploded during the 1970s. By 1977 Chevrolet built nearly 50,000, and the St. Louis plant could barely keep up. It was all that thanks to the Corvette’s wonderful combination of sleek styling, V8 power, and handling prowess. In 1977, the Corvette was equipped with a 350 cu-in V8 engine in two versions and was available with a close-ratio M21 four-speed gearbox or a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The car’s interior saw various updates in 1977, including leather seats that came as standard (leather with cloth inserts was a no cost option), a new center console for the heater and air conditioning, and the steering wheel being moved two inches away from the driver. Yet as Car and Driver summed up the ’77 model, “Good manners, but not too good.”

This 1977 Corvette is powered by a 383 cu-in V8 mated to a Tremec five speed manual and features the optional leather interior with cloth seat inserts. With its T-Top roof, YJ8 aluminum wheels, and a few upgrades, it shows why these C3 models were so wildly popular.
