Description
The 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille marked a significant shift in Cadillac's design philosophy, reflecting the changing automotive landscape of the late 1970s. This model year was notable for its downsizing, a response to higher fuel prices and stricter regulations on emissions. As a result, the ’77 Coupe DeVille was nearly a foot shorter and 750 pounds lighter than its predecessor, yet it retained the luxury and elegance synonymous with the Cadillac brand.
“It isn't easy to improve a Cadillac,” the automaker’s brochure said, “but as you can see in the sleek new lines of the 1977 Coupe DeVille — we did. Crisp. Clean. Sculpted. And sensible.”
Under the hood, the car featured a 425 cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 engine, delivering a smooth and powerful driving experience. The interior was spacious and opulent, with plush seating, high-quality materials, and advanced features for its time, such as automatic climate control. The exterior featured crisp lines, a prominent grille, and distinctive vertical taillights. The ’77 model year also introduced a new Cadillac hood ornament.
This excellent example has remained in the same family since it was purchased new, and it shows only 10,562 miles.
