Description
Though the first-generation Corvette’s first big changes—1955’s V8 and 1956’s new body—were in the rearview, the C1 Vette was still evolving. In 1958 dual headlights were added, a more prominent grille featured frame-mounted bumpers, and new trim accents abounded. However, by 1960 the Corvette cut a sleeker silhouette without hood louvers and decklid trim.
The high-revving 283 cu-in V8 was offered in five states of tune, with the highest 290-horsepower output attained with fuel injection and the special high-lift camshaft. That power was sent to the rear wheels through a standard three-speed manual, with an optional four-speed manual or two-speed Powerglide. A European-inspired interior featured a three-spoke steering wheel and 160-mph speedometer with outboard gauge pods. Vinyl bucket seats displayed handsome vertical stitching, with complementary interior brightwork. All things considered, the 1960 Corvette was visually and viscerally stunning, and became one of the world’s most desirable classics.
This beautiful 1960 Corvette Fuelie recently completed a comprehensive, 10-year frame-off restoration. In 2021, the National Corvette Restorers Society presented it with two Top Flight Awards, and the Performance Verification Award for outstanding mechanical operation. It then received the NCRS’ highest honor for originality and condition, the Duntov Mark of Excellence Award.

Ownership History
Consignor states he’s owned this 1960 Corvette since 1982. While in the Air Force and stationed in Michigan, he purchased it from a senior officer, who acquired it from a pilot who trailered it up from the Southwest. He was transferred to Omaha, NE and then to Albuquerque, NM where he then learned that this Corvette was originally from Albuquerque and it had made a full circle back home. He states that every component of this vehicle has been professionally and thoroughly restored to original function and condition. The car appears as new from the factory. The odometer was zeroed during restoration, and now reads 662 miles.
