Behold Ford’s Mustang-inspired electric crossover, covered in camo

Ford will invest a total of more than $11.5 billion in electrified vehicles by 2022, which means that like it or not, an all-electric Mustang is likely inevitable. But before the pony car itself gets zapped, Ford is launching an electric crossover that’s not only “Mustang-inspired”, but also promises to “go like hell”—all the way until you deplete its 300-mile range.

In the meantime, we have these new spy shots to ogle over. We can see quite a bit from the loosely-camo’d vehicle in the photos, but it’s apparent that Ford’s first mainstream EV is the best effort yet from an American automaker to build a pure EV with some real styling. Styling that, in this case, includes some rather Mustang-ish tail lights and a front end that has traces of pony car throughout.

In the world of Audi e-trons, Mercedes EQCs, and Tesla Model Ys, Ford’s five-seater BEV might just turn out to be the best value proposition.

The vehicle will likely be named the Mach E, and it’s slated to make its public debut on November 17th.
