Behold Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’ LMP1 hypercar, the SCG 007

We knew Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus was cooking up an LMP1 Hypercar, the SCG 007, but here is our first look at the final iteration of this American track monster. Given the car’s continual development, it appears Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will indeed race against Aston Martin, Toyota, and whatever other automakers that may sign up for the new WEC challenge.

We heard Mercedes won’t be there with the F1-engined AMG One, nor will Ford or Ferrari, while Koenigsegg might show up with a variation of the Jesko. Perhaps Lamborghini, too? Either way, we shall see the full entry list in due time.

What’s certain is that while Glickenhaus worked on the GM-powered SPX/GT2/GT3-class SCG 004C endurance race cars, as well as the soon-to-be competing new Baja Boot, the company came up with the basics for the top class of the 2020/2021 World Endurance Championship season. And the SCG Hypercar contender will look like this.

You may have noticed that the SCG 007 is very red indeed, and I can tell you that it won’t use a Honda engine like the SCG 003C had up until this year at the Nürburgring. Instead, the SCG 007 will have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that’s globally homologated.

SCG won’t comment officially on that yet, but the company will say that in addition to its factory LMP1/Hypercar entries, it will offer customer cars to privateers, as well as a limited edition of road-legal examples later on. While the SCG 004s will be made in Connecticut, the 007s will be built in Italy by Podium Advanced Technologies, just like the current 003s.

The promise of an American team competing at the highest level at Le Mans is very exciting, even if Ferrari won’t be there with designs on some payback.
