Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee season 11 trailer is here
Netflix has dropped a trailer, titled Freshly Brewed, for the upcoming 11th season of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee video series.
Few things are less funny than describing comedy, so rather than summarize the two and a half minute teaser for the show, whose concept is quite adequately summed up in its title, I’ll simply direct you to watch it.
I will, however clue you in on a few important points. After producing the show for more than a decade, Seinfeld and the show’s producers are now apparently concerned with imitators. From his podium on a gyroscopic hoverboard, Jerry humble-brags about being an influencer and snarks about how others have less-than-adequately imitated his show about cars while he proceeds to show us a quick-cut sequence of cool cars and (mostly) famous comedians.
To his credit, Seinfeld does use the power of his show to spotlight some lesser-known comedians that he admires and thinks deserve a wider audience. Automotive history buffs appreciate that he does the same with some of the oddball vehicles that he and his comic friends take to go get some java.
Of course Mr. Seinfeld didn’t invent the concept of funny car videos, but his connections in the two worlds of comedy and collectible cars means that he can get celebrities and vehicles that your average automotive YouTuber just cannot land. He’s also one of the funniest and most successful comedians of his generation—not just some guy with a salvaged Ferrari and a GoPro camera.
This year’s season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee starts streaming on Netflix on July 19, 2019.
