Sinatra’s 1985 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country taking another spin
Been there, done that. Less than five months after Frank Sinatra’s 1985 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Station Wagon sold for £5062.50 ($6427.02) at H&H Classics’ online auction in February, the car is crossing the block again—and Bonhams is hoping The Best is Yet to Come.
Wait a minute, you’re thinking, the Chairman of the Board rode around in a Chrysler LeBaron wagon? Sinatra had a lifelong affection for Chrysler vehicles, and, as legend would have it, he got his first break in the music industry because his potential bandmates were impressed by his choice in cars. Plus, what could be more inconspicuous than a LeBaron? The estate wagon chauffeured Sinatra around Las Vegas for about a decade prior to his death in 1998, and few would have believed that Ol’ Blue Eyes was sitting in the backseat.
The 1985 LeBaron Town & Country will cross the block at Bonhams’ Goodwood auction on July 5. Selling without reserve, it has a pre-auction estimate of £15,000–£20,000 ($19,000–$25,000), well above the sub-$6500 sale price earlier this year. Is that The Impossible Dream? Perhaps, but It’s Only Money.
