Infiniti’s EVs get closer to reality with the Qs Inspiration Concept
Later this month at the Auto Shanghai 2019 show, Infiniti will reveal the Qs Inspiration concept for a new electrically powered sports sedan—its latest vehicle to be based on its all-new flexible architecture dedicated to electric vehicles.
Just a single image of the rear end of the Qs Inspiration was released with the announcement today, but we can get a clue about its styling from the fact that Infiniti says that the new EV shares design themes with the Qx Inspiration electric crossover concept introduced in January at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Infiniti’s design team has been on a roll lately, with a form language said by the company to be influenced by modern Japanese art and architecture. The Qx Inspiration was one of the hits of the Detroit show (at least once it made it to the stage—technical issues prevented it from appearing in the scheduled press conference), and the Prototype 10 electric roadster concept wowed the crowd at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
While the exterior of the Qs Inspiration carries Infiniti’s new styling themes, the “minimalist” interior will feature two distinct zones, with separate spaces optimized for the driver and passengers.
Mechanically, the Qs Inspiration will likely share the Qx Inspiration’s electric all-wheel drive, which has an e-motor on each axle. While Infiniti is open about the Qs Inspiration being a preview of a production version of the concept, no time frame for production or sales has been announced.
