Is this horde of 55 VW buses a Canadian gold mine worth $350K?

We all know that Sammy Hagar can’t drive 55, and you aren’t expected to either. You can, however, own 55 Volkswagen Westfalias—if you have a lot of patience and a lot of cash.

It seems a seller in Newmarket, Ontario, ran out of the first and now wants the second. He is offering nearly five dozen VW buses, which he claims are complete and “in good restorable condition,” for $350,000. That’s right, $350K. It’ll cost you $500 just to take a peek. Flying in from overseas? “Please be prepared to stay in a hotel until funds clear my bank,” since only then will the vehicles be released.

Details are slim to none. The years and models aren’t specified, and although one of the three photos in the Kijiji listing reveals a few split-window buses, some of the VWs look more like parts vehicles—in spite of what the description says.

Not everyone has $350,000 to invest or the space to store such a large collection, and it appears that most of the vehicles have been stored outside, which means they’ve seen more than their share of snow and ice over Canadian winters. However, considering that some high-quality classic Volkswagen buses sell for six figures at auction, this could be a massive pile of potential to the right person.

For comparison purposes, a 1963 VW Type 2 Transporter Deluxe in #4 (Fair) condition is valued at $16,000, while a well-restored version in #1 (Concours) condition has an average value of $86,700.
