LEGO Ferrari F40, classic rally Mini and other awesome kits for 2019
LEGO just announced its upcoming 2019 Speed Champions lineup, and the prospect of intricate car toys has us more excited than a kid on Christmas Eve. And while they won’t be here in time for the holidays, these new kits should provide youngsters (and those of us still young at heart) with five sweet project cars that won’t break the bank in the new year.
The first kit includes a pair of rally-ready Mini Coopers, complete with off-road versions of the 1967 and 2018 cars with a pit-stop setup for servicing the blocky creations. And Mopar fans will be pumped to see the inclusion of a drag-race-themed 2018 SRT Demon and blower-equipped 1970 Charger. The Dodges even come with a micro Christmas tree (no, not that Christmas tree), perfect for timing those inevitable quarter-hallway races. Also in the motorsports vein is the bright-blue Camaro ZL1 stock-car, which is pre-stickered and ready to tear up a tiny NASCAR oval.
But the show-stealers would have to be the exotics, an orange-accented McLaren Senna and Rosso Corsa Ferrari F40 Competizione. The british-brick McLaren features the production car’s transparent lower door panels and buildable windtunnel for fine-tuning its adjustable aero package. The F40, on the other hand, provides its new owner swappable hoods and spoilers, allowing for either the sleek street version or track-ready Competizione package. At 198 pieces, this Ferrari is quite a bit simpler than the 1158-piece LEGO Creator F40 we featured in one of our time lapse build videos from 2015, however, the new one is also a fraction of the price.
