2019 Chevy Camaro SEMA car gets new color, better front end

GM is looking to electrify the 2018 SEMA show with its new 2019 Camaro exterior color: Shock. The color—which resembles that bright yellow Sharpie on your desk—is slated to join the ranks of the palette in early 2019 alongside the existing bright shades of Red Hot, Crush orange, and Garnet Red Tintcoat. We imagine that this high-visibility hue be a love-it-or-leave-it situation, similar to the Krypton and Synergy shades of green offered on Camaros of years prior.

While it’s hard not to focus on the car’s new paint job, GM performance has quite a few other highlights aside from the Camaro’s bright exterior. This SEMA car features a number of new visual accessories—ground effects kit, new spoiler options, fuel door with carbon accent, and blacked out fender badges. For those looking for additional performance, you’ll find that in the RECARO buckets, factory-engineered cold air intake, Brembo brakes and 1LE suspension components. All of the above can be ordered and installed through your local dealer or from the Chevy catalogue online.

The most significant change on this concept, however, is the front-end styling. It looks like Chevy is testing the waters at SEMA for a need look, remedying the highly controversial change to the 2019 Camaro SS’s face. You can see a painted grille bar in body color, Chevy moved the iconic bowtie upward into the top opening. Chevy is stressing this alteration is “concept only,” but we’re hoping that a warm reception at SEMA will have Chevrolet offering the new look as a factory option, or at the very least, a dealer accessory.
