Jay Koval
Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Communications
Jay builds relationships with high quality investors and fosters an appreciation for Hagerty’s ability to successfully execute its long-term growth strategy. Additionally, Jay leads Hagerty’s external and internal communications to ensure consistent messaging and strategy alignment across all stakeholders.
Jay joined Hagerty in June of 2022, bringing with him a wealth of investor relations and communications expertise, cultivated from prior lead roles and over two decades of capital markets experience. He helped other US-based companies from 2019-2022 including IR/Treasurer/Communications role at Chobani. Prior to 2019, Jay created world class IR programs at Brown-Forman, a leading US spirits company as well as at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, a global lifestyle branded company.
During his tenure at Brown-Forman from 2012 to 2019, the company’s market capitalization tripled to over $30B. Strong multiple out-performance was driven by evolving the company’s investor messaging and globalizing the shareholder base.
In addition to leading Investor Relations, he also oversaw Brown-Forman’s Community Relations team where he led the creation of a $70 million charitable foundation to help the communities where company employees lived and work. At Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Jay led the Investor Relations function from 2006 to 2012, helping the company achieve a 1st place ranking among the investment community by Institutional Investor magazine. Prior to the 15 years where Jay concentrated on the Investor Relations function, he worked as a buy-side analyst at Invesco Funds Group, as well as a sell-side analyst at Bank of America Securities. Jay began his career on Wall Street working in investment banking at JP Morgan on their Consumer/Retail team. Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Yale University while completing the pre-medical curriculum, a Diploma in Economics from The London School of Economics, and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He resides in Illinois with his family.
