In 1950, the standard Volkwagen Type 1 two-door sedan cost $1280. The DeLuxe Sedan was $1480, the Sunroof Sedan $1560 and the Cabriolet $1997. A total of 13 exterior colors were available: Pastel Green (L11), Medium Green (L13), Reseda Green (L14), Pearl Gray (L21), Silver Gray (L23), Dark Blue (L32), Black (L41), Coral Red (L50), Bordeaux Red (L51), Medium Brown (L70), Beige (L71), Brown Beige (L76) and Pearl White (L87).

Interior colors were keyed to exterior paint. Standard interior was Beige cloth with optional Beige or Red Beige leatherette. Headliner was Beige or Gray and carpets Gray-Beige or Honey Brown. Rubber mats were Beige or Black.

Cabriolet colors varied slightly between Hebmüller-built and Karmann-built cars. Hebmüller Cabriolets were Black, Coral Red, Ivory, Yellow, and Medium Brown. Tops were Black, Beige or Brown and interiors were Beige cloth or Beige/Red Beige leatherette. Headliners were Beige or Gray, carpets Gray or Brown and rubber mats Black. Karmann cabriolets were Atlantic Green, Black, Coral Red, Ivory, Medium Brown, and Beige. Tops were Black, Green or Brown. Cloth interiors were Beige and leatherette interiors were Beige or Red Beige. Carpets were Gray Beige or Brown and rubber mats were Black.
