Equipment
RHD. 221/85hp Ford Flathead, 3-speed manual, alloy bodywork, hub caps, Avon tires, dual mirrors, headlight stone guards, banjo steering wheel, wood dash.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Rare alloy-bodied K1 built for rallying, reportedly one of four built. Had success in period, including 2nd overall in the Alpine Rally. Full restoration 20 years ago. There is wear on the Allard badge on the nose but the paint and brightwork look quite good for the age other than a few blemishes on the wheels and tops of the doors. Tidy engine. Some pitting on the steering wheel and windshield frame, but the leather and wood are holding up very well. Won’t win any beauty contests but an interesting early Allard that would make a good event car.
Market commentary
Sold for significantly more than a normal Flathead-powered K1 would bring, but given the alloy body and the rally history that's understandable. The K-Series Allard isn't a beauty queen, but considering what other '50s European sports car with similar pedigree, performance and event eligibility sell for, this is still so much car for the money.
