Equipment
Radio, no heater, wide whitewalls, trim rings, bumper wingtips, overriders, power top. Excellent paint, interior and chrome. This Mercury comes with a wonderful, if impossible to verify, story that its (first) buyer was a prostitute in San Francisco who had both the cash and the connections to secure a universally desired early post WWII new Mercury. True or not, it adds to the cars appeal, on top of its already desirable restoration and equipment.
Market commentary
One of the cars sold by RM at its very memorable auction of Micheal Dingmans collection in June 2006. Most of them brought astounding prices, but this Mercury sold for just $71,500, a modest price among a series of bank breakers. It now has caught up with its potential and has achieved full retail status with this transaction.
