Steve Saleen’s new 302 White Label Mustang brings 510 hp, styling tweaks

“Improving the breed since 1984,” it says on Saleen.com, the breed being the Ford Mustang, which tuner and race car driver Steve Saleen began modifying 40 years ago. His cars have been invariably interesting and usually pretty, and fast. He has also built other cars, like the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford F-150, and his own sports cars like the S1, but he’ll always be known primarily for his Mustangs.

His latest pony car just debuted at the LeMay Automobile Museum in Tacoma, Washington, which has previously hosted an exhibit of Saleen’s past models. The new car is the 2024 302 White Label Mustang.

“This 2024 302 White Label is the most comprehensive design ever for our 302 White Label. There is a lot to like about the new [Mustang] S650 platform,” said Saleen. “We are quite proud of the end result.”

The details: Saleen improved the vehicle air flow with a new front fascia that incorporates an aerodynamic splitter integrated into the high-downforce air dam. A revised hood vent allows additional escape of hot air, while a Saleen wing in the back provides added downforce. There’s also a new grille.

Under the hood, Saleen has increased the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8’s naturally-aspirated horsepower from 480 to 510, while still maintaining original fuel economy and drivability. Inside, a Saleen instrument cluster frames new LED screens, creating a more integrated look. There’s also a functional passenger grab handle. A Generation 5 Racecraft suspension, Saleen brakes, and new wheels and tires round out the 302 White Label’s available features. Prices start at $61,990 for the base model.

The 2024 302 White Label is Saleen’s entry level vehicle in the 302 model line, followed by the mid-level 745 hp Yellow Label, and the top-of-the-line 800 hp Black Label. The Yellow Label starts at $79,900, and the supercharged Black Label at $104,900, according to the company’s website.
