New York Auto Show postponed to August 2021
The New York International Auto Show has been moved to August 20–29 next year. The ongoing coronavirus crisis forced the 2020 event to be moved and then cancelled, and organizers are hoping that this new, later date will allow it to take place in 2021.
An additional upside will be that the show will be held in an expanded Javits Center, in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. There will be an extra 100,000 square feet of exhibition space, a rooftop pavilion, and a display and test track area dedicated to electric vehicles.
Mark Schienberg, president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, said, “Looking at all the issues we’re facing, we have determined that moving the dates of the 2021 NYIAS to August is not only the responsible thing to do, but it puts us in a unique position to occupy the expanded Javits Center.”
The New York show’s move follows a merry-go-round of auto show rescheduling. The 2020 Los Angeles Auto Show will now be held in May 2021, and the Detroit Auto Show, which was planned for June 2021, will be held in September.
