Japanese Tuner Takes Liberties With Lamborghini Countach

Another Italian icon has attracted the attentions of Liberty Walk. After previously having the temerity to tackle the Ferrari F40 the maker of Japan’s most extreme machines has got its hands on a Lamborghini Countach.

The Countach, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024, is on show at the Tokyo Auto Salon boasting a body kit that goes far beyond anything Lamborghini ever did during the car’s 26 years in production.

Known as the LB-Works, it’s a typical ludicrous Liberty Walk take on the Sant’Agata supercar. That means big bolted-on wheelarch extensions, asphalt-scraping front diffuser and race-style canard, wide side skirts, side and rear diffusers, a huge rear wing on twin struts, and a roof-mounted air intake. It sits on forged Rohana alloy wheels shod with Toyo Proxes tires and has been slammed so low you’ll need a micrometer to measure the gap twixt road and car. Final touches include a smattering of stickers advertising the partners in the project and reminding slack-jawed on-lookers that this is a uniquely-Japanese take on an Italian classic, with the words “Works JDM Style.”

Inside there are Sparco race seats with red racing harnesses, but despite the track-ready appearance, like all Liberty Walk creations, the focus here is very much ‘show’ rather than ‘go’. Each of the key components in the LB-Works kit is made from fiber-reinforced plastic and available to purchase individually, but if you’re going to start messing with a legend then you may as well go all the way.

“We are doing whatever we want,” says Liberty Walk and, whether you’re a fan of this crazy Countach or not, you’ve got to admire the audacity.
