Auction Results: Gooding & Company’s 2013 Scottsdale Sale

Gooding & Company held its sixth annual Scottsdale auction on Jan. 18 and 19, 2013. As has been the case for each previous Arizona effort, sales numbers were up, with $52.6M generated from the sale of 101 lots. Only three lots went unsold, and the final total was more than $12M stronger than 2012.

Top sale for the two-day event was also the high-water mark for the week, with a LWB 1958 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder selling for $8,250,000. The closed-headlight car in beautiful metallic blue had been completely restored, and set a record for a non-competition version of the model. A rare (one of 35 built) Porsche 718 RSK and an even rarer Maserati 150 GT Spider (one of one) also sold in excess of $3.0M. Other remarkable sales include $506,000 for a 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS Dino Spyder, $737,000 for a 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC coupe, and $162,250 for a 1970 Maserati Ghibli coupe. Well bought were a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR fastback at $101,750, and a 1958 Dual Ghia Hemi convertible for $176,000.
