Auction Results: Auctions America’s 2013 Spring Auburn sale

Auctions America’s annual Spring Auburn sale, held at the Auburn Auction Park in Auburn, Ind., totaled $5.6M in automotive sales, with 240 out of 431 cars and trucks selling (56%). This is substantially better than year’s $4.0M outing, though down roughly 15% from the $6.7M 2011 tally.

The variety of lots was outstanding, with cars ranging from Brass Era tourers to late-model exotics. Top seller for the event was an older restoration of a 1930 Packard 745 Dual Cowl Phaeton that sold for $198,000, including buyer’s premium. A beautiful 1931 Auburn Boattail earned $159,500, and a 1967 Fairlane with a replacement R-code motor did well at $90,750.

Plenty of Hudsons were onsite, with many coming from the John Soneff Collection. The 1950 Commodore 8 convertible sold for a very strong $112,200, continuing recent trends among these cars, and a 1952 Hornet Hollywood hardtop traded for a fair $33,000. A rare 1951 Crosley Super convertible looked like a great buy at $7,150. Microcars have been selling well in the wake of RM’s Bruce Weiner auction, and this cheery little Crosley has an upside.
