25 Greatest Mustangs: 2020 GT500 CFTP

The Shelby nameplate came roaring back from a six-year hiatus in the form of Ford’s most powerful and quickest Mustang to date.

Ford dropped a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 barking out 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque into the noise hole, but there’s no clutch pedal. For this GT500, Ford supplies a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The only other knock against the Shelby is the steep $73,995 base price that can be further inflated to six figures with options. And you’ll want some options, especially the Carbon Fiber Track Package—for an additional $18,500, it provides carbon-fiber wheels, Recaro seats, a larger rear wing, adjustable strut mounts, rear-seat delete, and myriad other track-day essentials.
