If distinguished luxury and sports car marques really get your engine revving, there’s no better place to be each August than California’s Monterey Peninsula. In addition to the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, there are no fewer than seven auction houses selling everything from microcars to American muscle. And, of course, there’s the antithesis of high-brow Pebble Beach gathering: the Concours d’LeMons, which celebrates “the oddball, mundane and truly awful of the automotive world.” There is truly something for everyone in Monterey.
